Two Brisbane locals have taken the ultimate plunge during the pandemic – launching Bon+Co, a sustainable swimwear brand for kids and teens made from recycled plastic waste.
As parents, the Bon+Co founders struggled to find kids and tweens swimwear that ticked all the boxes. So, with 20+ years of experience in the Australian fashion industry, a passion for pattern and design, and a high-quality product that fits well and looks good, Bon+Co swimwear was launched.
Bon+Co chose to be part of a change in how the fashion sector operates by using REPREVE® fabric for their swimwear, made from recycled plastic bottles that were otherwise destined for landfill.
REPREVE® yarns are made using techniques that emit fewer greenhouse gases, whilst conserving water and energy in the process. Our aim is to integrate sustainability into all areas of our operations in order to minimise our impact on the environment and limit our carbon footprint, with the ultimate goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company,” says Bon+Co co-Founder Hugh.
To reinforce their commitment to positivity, Bon+Co has also decided to team up with headspace.org.au, donating $1 from every sale to help make a difference to young Australians who are going through a tough time.
Inspired by their own nostalgic childhood memories from Australian and European Summers gone by, Bon+Co hangs their hat on their prints and patterns, which are all exclusively designed in their Brisbane Bayside studio featuring unique hand-painted or hand-drawn illustrations.

Bon+Co celebrates goodness and positivity, something we all need a little more of especially in these challenging times that we find ourselves living in. “It is important to provide a sense of joy and optimism through creativity, colour, and design. We want our kids to feel good in their own skin, and to allow them to just simply be kids!” says Hugh.
The theme for their First Summer 2020 Collection swimwear launch is reminiscent of idyllic Summer holiday destinations dotted around the world, from tile patterns of the Mediterranean to the tropical beaches of Hawaii. The colours are bright and the mood is filled with energetic joy and optimism.
“Our products not only look good, but we have taken all the steps required to ensure quality swimwear products for our customers by recently achieving ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Certification. The range is crafted to include UPF50+ sun protection and is resistant to chlorine and pilling,” Hugh said.
The Bon+Co swimwear launch took place on Saturday 29th August 2020. To see the Bon+Co First Summer 2020 Collection so click below and be one of the first to grab a piece from their limited run launch collection.
