Bon+Co Sustainable Swimwear Update
Sustainable Swimwear is just around the corner…
Why choose sustainability?
Around 8 million tonnes of plastic went into the ocean in 2010, according to the most comprehensive study of plastic pollution undertaken to date. In an effort to create secondary markets for recycled plastics, industry leaders have developed methods to create yarn from recycled plastic waste. With environmentally aware consumers looking for sustainable swimwear options, it makes sense to take advantage of these new developments from the textile industry and use recycled materials to develop our latest designs and ensure some very exciting swimwear will be arriving at our beaches and pools very soon.
How do you make recycled swimwear fabric?
Waste plastics such as single-use bottles are being collected, broken down and repurposed into a sustainable yarn which is perfect for producing swimwear. As lovers of the ocean and protecting our natural wonders for many generations to come, we couldn’t be more supportive of developments like this. It certainly makes the choice a little easier when you have an option like this for your next sustainable swimwear. Check out this short clip that explains the process!
